Where do I get all the coupons?

So many of you want to get into the "coupon thing" but don't know where to start.  One of the questions I often get asked is, "Where do you find the coupons?"

I have several sources for coupons...

1. The Sunday paper- I have a Thursday and Sunday subscription to the Star Ledger. It costs me $9.00 a month but I easily get that back with the money I save on the coupons.  There are inserts in the Thursday paper too which many people don't realize.  I will often go to the bagel store on a Sunday to pick up an extra paper if there are a lot of circulars that week.

2. My mom- She also has a Star Ledger subscription and she gives me the coupon inserts from her paper.  You would be surprised how many people would give you their inserts if you just ask.

3. Internet Printables- there are so many FREE printable coupons on the internet.  The best way to find what you need is to use a coupon database on websites like Living Rich With Coupons They have an index of all the available coupons that are out there in cyberspace.

4. Coupon Clipping Site-  My friend Lisa introduced me to this method.  This is a service that you pay for.  I use The Coupon Clippers They sell for a low price coupons that they have clipped.  So if you know there is a good sale coming and you need a certain coupon for it, you can order multiple copies of it from their site.  They usually have it delivered to your door in just a few days.

Coming soon... a post on how to organize your coupons!

Coupon for a Cause

All of the items in the picture above will be donated to the food bin at my church.  I call it "couponing for a cause."  I got most of the things in the picture for free or close to it.

You can find the details of how I got these deals at a website called Living Rich With Coupons.  You can reach the site here.  All of the items were purchased in one shopping trip at ShopRite yesterday.

You can do this too.  If not for just saving money for your own family but to help others!

20% off coupon for Carter's

Carters has a new 20% off printable coupon  This is off of any purchase of $50 or more. It does not expire until 2/23.

I plan to wait until Tuesday to go to Carter's in Matawan.

Tuesdays is double punch day.  The Carter's store gives you a punch on your frequent buyer card for every $20 you spend.  When you reach 5 punches you get $10 off your next purchase.  On Tuesdays they give you two punches for every $20 you purchase!

They are also having a Clearance sale.  They are offering an additional 20% off of clearance items.  This means 20% off the already marked down prices.  I am sure alot of the items will be winter clothes.  If you can, try to think ahead to what size your baby will be next fall/winter.  The only problem is the clearance sale is advertised to end on Monday.  I am thinking I may have to stop in before Tuesday to see if there is anything worth getting.

For Lucas I am thinking 24 months or 2T.  It is crazy and a little sad to think of him that big but it is worth it when I have all of next winter's clothes all set for a fraction of the cost.

Free Organic Lemonade at ShopRite

For the last few weeks ShopRite has had a great deal on lemonade.  You can get two bottles for Free.

Here is what you need to do...(description from the ShopRite in Old Bridge)

`1. When you walk in the door, go to the courtesy counter on your left and pick up two of the coupon booklets in the picture above.

2.  Towards the back of the book you will see a coupon for 75 cents off of Santa Cruz Organic lemonade.  Tear the coupon out of each book so that you have two coupons.

3.  Go to the juice aisle which is right across from the courtesy desk.  The Santa Cruz lemonade will be on your left side on the top shelf.

4.  They are on sale 2 for $3.00.  Since your coupons will double to $1.50 off of each, you will get both bottles for FREE.

Aaron, my husband, thinks that the lemonade is good and he takes the bottles to work with him to drink during the day.  I like my lemonade a little sweeter so I don't care for these that much.

Give it a try!  It's free!

Target Debacle Update

SO many of you have been asking about how my Target disaster has been resolved.  If you didn't get to read abotu the incident you can read about it in this previous post.

I received a phone call today from the Target corporate office.  They actaully followed up like they said they would. The rep wanted to know how I print my coupons so they can figure out why they print the way they do from my computer.

She said that the nasty store managers were questioned and that they filed my complaint about them.  She said a case had been started and they are working with the tech support people to figure out why the coupons print incorrectly from their site.

She said she thought it might be my printer but I told her to Google the problem and she will she it is all over cyberspace.  I may be the first one that was treated so poorly by their staff.

She said she would follow up again with me on Monday to tell me what to do in regards to getting the coupons to print.

I will keep you posted!

Swagbucks

I just started using Swagbucks and I like it so far.  It costs me nothing and I am earning "Swagbucks" that can be used to purchase things like giftcards.

So far I have earned "Swagbucks" by using the site as my search engine.

My First Bad Couponing Experience

I am still fuming from my first bad experience with coupons.  It was at the Target store in Manalapan, NJ.

This afternoon I prepped for my trip.  I had a few good deals planned and a couple great ones.  I printed my Target coupons from the Target website and clipped my manufacturer's coupons just as I have many times before.

I show up at the Target around 5:00 with Lucas in tow.  I spent about an hour gathering up the deals I had planned and browsing throug the children's clearance clothes.

I get to the register and the cashier scans all my coupons and they go through without a problem.  I watched as my $37 total dropped dramatically to a mere $16.  As I take out my Target gift card to pay with a manager swoops in and grabs the coupons from the cashier's hand.

To make an extremely long story short, two of the managers and the security guard accused me of coupon fraud.  They claimed my Target coupons were FAKE.  I told them I printed them that morning from the website and the cashier told the manager that the coupons went through OK.

I ended up leaving the store and did not purchase anything.  The manager, was very rude and insisted that my coupons were fake.  I assure you that they were not.

When I got home I called the corporate office.  After being on hold for 20 minutes and being passed from employee ro employee, I finally encountered a helpful person.

She is looking into the problem.  I faxed her a copy of the coupons that the manager would not accept.  She took the manager's name and my contact information.  While I am waiting to hear back from her she was sending me some vouchers for $ off my next purchse.

So what do I expect to happen?  I haven't figured that out yet.  I know that I wanted Target to know that the manager was accusing me of "stealing."  Who knows what will happen?  I will keep you posted.

Rite Aid Deals for this week

Sorry for the blurry picture- camera is having a bad day

I have not been doing the Rite Aid deals.  I was inspired to shop there by my friend Lisa's latest haul from Rite Aid.

You have to be patient when you shop at RiteAid.  Most of the deals are through "Up Rewards."  They abbreviate these as UPR.  You need to be patient because the deals don't come right off the price, they are coupons that print at the bottom of your receipt.  You need to initially put out the money but then every purchase after that, you should be able to pay with your Up Rewards.  It is like money printing at the bottom of your receipt.  You can equate them to Catalina coupons.

So I spent $6.98 but got back $6 in Up Rewards so it is like spending 98 cents.  Here are the deals I got:

Buy 2 Bounty Basics Paper Towels $1.29 each and get one Free  (BOGO Sale)
-$1/2 Bounty from the 1/30 P&G Inserts

I bought two and got two Free.  I used  two $1 off of two coupons which made them 58 cents for four.
$.15 each after coupon & BOGO Sale

Excedrin PM (20 ct) - $1.99
or use $2.50/1 Excedrin PM Product, exp. 6-1-11 (SS 12/05/10)
(If you shop at the Rite Aid on 516 in Old Bridge, there are $2.50 off coupons hanging on the shelf)
Free after coupon and this Rite gave me the overage so I made 5 cents on each box.
Halls - $1.00
$0.50/1 Halls Cough Drops, exp. 3-31-11 (ALL YOU Feb ‘11)
 Get $1.00 UPR wyb 2
Free after coupons & UPR
Get $5.00 UPR wyb 2
2 for $1.00  after UPR
Not the best deal but I like Finesse
So I would say my trip to RiteAid was a success.  I will be trying this store more often.  The only downfall is that much of there stock was sold out.  I had some other deals planned but they did not have the items available.

How do you have time to write a blog?

This is the number one question that I get asked after someone reads my blog for the first time.  This question can best be answered with a picture...

My son Lucas is a champion sleeper.  While Sydney is at school in the afternoons, Lucas takes an amazing three hour nap.  I make the most of my "free time".  My sister in law, Hilary, of My So Called Home, gave me the tip on how to schedule blog posts to publish.  I can write a whole bunch while he is sleeping and set them to post throughout the week.  So I am writing this post on Wed afternoon but you won't see it until 8 in the morning on Friday- genius!

Cellfire Coupons

I just discovered Cellfire Coupons.  They are coupons that you clip online and load right up to your shopper card.

For example, I shop at ShopRite.  I go THIS SITE to see the coupons that are available.  You need to create an account with your Price Plus Card number (located on the back of your card).  This takes seconds.  When you choose a coupon it will automatically be added to your Price Plus card and come off your order at the register as soon as your card is scanned.

I found out about this feature at theLiving Rich With Coupons Website.  It is a great website worth checking out!
